Plum & Tulips

I tried to keep my brushstrokes loose today. I've taken a hard look at my painting style. I didn't do this on purpose and this wasn't my intention but it just sort of happened and I questioned everything. I found a painter whose work inspired me so much that I wanted to go in a totally new direction. This lasted a painful two days. So instead of changing what I like to paint which is still lifes, I decided to change one thing and that is to paint looser. For those interested in whose work I'm referring to, it's Connie Hayes at http://conniehayes.com.

  1. Love this! It really stood out on the Daily Painters' page!

  2. I love Connie Hayes too. You definitely have her colorful vibe going on here. I live the rosy pinks angling in to the plum.

  3. I like what you did before and I like this too. It is also what you choose to paint which makes it "so you!"

  4. I like this on a lot. The clean colors of the tulips makes the depth in the plum's color so much more dramatic, and the plum is in focus.
