Rose of Sharon 2016 Study

This is a color/value study I did on gessoed mat board. I wanted to practice some new color combinations without feeling like I had to complete a finished painting. It's funny how painting without expectations can be freeing. The violet is a combination of Quinacridone Magenta and Cerulean Blue. This is my fifth year of doing a Rose of Sharon from my bush.

  1. I love how you use color in your paintings! We have two rose of sharon bushes in our back yard, too.
