High Key Apple

This month I took Peggi Kroll Robert's High Value Key online workshop. It gave me insight into a style of painting I've always wanted to learn. She did several demonstrations and critiques which were very helpful. This painting I put into practice what I've learned and I'm happy with the results.

Tea with Lemon

The colors of the tea in this painting were the leftover colors from my Color Theory class at Saratoga Arts. These colors were the analogous and complementary colors of cadmium red medium. The difference in lightening with white and analogous lighter colors can be seen in the difference between the pink bowl in the background and some of the light tea colors inside the glass. I'll be teaching a similar class on Color Theory at Arlene's Artist Workshop in Albany NY on  8/17.

Color Theory Workshop

My Color Theory workshop at Saratoga Arts in Saratoga Springs, NY. Ten talented students (some works not shown here, unfortunately!). All worked on analogous color charts and complementary color exercises and then painted a still life. A fun and hard-working group of artists.
