Rubber Plant in Glass Vase

As usual, it's taken me a while to get back into painting. My husband reminded me of the quote, "I Spent All Morning Taking Out a Comma and All Afternoon Putting It Back"Yes, it's true for painters too, not just writers.  It seems every brush stroke and color choice is a decision, but when you are satisfied, it's all worth it.

My last workshop this year

One more workshop this year and then no more for a while.

I had a busy year filled with group shows and lots of teaching. Teaching fulfilled several of my goals. A goal to pass on what I have learned to new painters, to dig deeper into my understanding the process of painting (my original goal) and to be able to communicate what I know effectively.  I am especially proud of my last teaching experience, a library talk on how I use the color wheel. While I love teaching and meeting so many great people,  it's time to spend more time on my own work, but I have one more workshop that I'm looking forward to.

The Art of Hunkering Down

It's time to think about hunkering down and concentrating on painting. After the flower beds are put to sleep, the window screens are put away, and the winter blankets are on the beds, I'll be in my studio again painting and taking the winter off from teaching.

I'm offering my last two “Introduction to Oil Painting” workshops this fall and they are:

October 12th@ Arlene's Artists Materials in Albany

November 9th@ Saratoga Arts in Saratoga

I've had a wonderful busy summer and achieved my art goals. I'm also proud of all the hardworking and successful students I had the privilege to teach.

Thanks everyone and let's plan on a productive end of the year!
