Lifeguard Hut

Here is my seascape of a lifeguard hut with heavy brush behind it and a short beach. This is my first sea painting where I feel good about capturing the ocean. What could be more fun?

Windy Sky, Winding Path

It's funny how 90% of a painting almost works itself out and the last 10% takes days. The trees in front took several different forms and several days. I can't paint a lot of small details and be happy, so I had to figure out how to do it in light and dark forms. I'm impressed with landscape painters, they have to make lots of decisions.

Sea & Sky

Painting the sea is a new adventure for me. I went through several variations of waves with white caps, but they all took my eye away from the clouds and overall painting. The small boats in the background helped create a sense of distance and made the sky look even larger. These waves are subtle and are most likely seen later in the day.
