The lid of this cigar box was painted in oils. The box measures 11.5 x 8 x 3.5 inches. Stenciling is a lot of fun, but requires a steady hand. I love the gold and antique white acrylic paint surrounding it as a boarder.
This cigar box, and the landscape and seascapes previously blogged also have an additional image of them after their framing. I think it adds an idea of what they would look like on a wall, as opposed to just their image as a painting, giving them another dimension.
I can't say I thought of this idea on my own. I recently discovered a Canadian artist (love those Canadians) whose land and seascape paintings have inspired me. I think her husband constructs the frames and she displays her works also in and out of them. You can check out her work at https://www.christinecode.com/
