Fluted Bowl and Lemon

Before I started painting I was looking through a book on the artist Janet Fish, can you tell? I enjoy glass and all its challenges. Glass is made up of light, shadows, reflections and abstraction. That's what I find so intriguing.

I'm planning on working on glass paintings for a while, the kind with flutes and etched designs. They're challenging, but oh so fun.

Pet Memory Box

Not for sale

I have to give a shout out to one of my favorite pet portrait artists Patti Vincent for inspiring me to paint pet memory boxes. I thought it was a lovely way to keep a pet's belongings in one place with their portrait on the lid. To a pet owner it's a nice way to remember a beloved family member.

Bodacious Bananas

It took me three tries to get these bananas right. I wanted to paint them in planes and I had to push the darks. Having figured it out, I'm satisfied. They're bodacious because they have substance and aren't your run of the mill green bananas, or so I imagined.

Double Trouble

Almost every morning my husband and I are greeted by these two dogs within their invisible fenced-in property. You'd think they would remember us but it's the same every day.  Running and barking back and forth, and then they're done. We imagine that they're really very nice.

Tulips in jar II

Here it is again but with a yellow ocherish shadow.  This warmer color works better than that dark gray.  Many people say to either view your painting in a mirror or take an image and in that way you'll see your work through new eyes.  It's funny but when you're in the throes of painting your mind may get locked into one perception and it's difficult to change. Best to walk away and complete it another day, if all else fails.

Tulips in Glass Jar

I painted this yesterday and am going to paint it again but with a different background. I think I'll change the color of the shadow.  It's funny when you're working on a painting and you can't figure what isn't working until you take an image of it.

Return of the Usual Suspects

I'm finished. I think this painting is sweet and would look perfect in a child's room. But, I'll keep it for a while and enjoy it. I've put the stuffed toys back in their bags and now it's time to move on.
