Mrs. London's Bakery in Progress Cont.

I've been out of town for 10 days visiting family and came back earlier this week. It's great to be painting again. This is my fourth day working on this. I enjoy painting the marble background. It's an interesting backdrop for the objects on the table.

I've made a short video of my home studio. To see it click on this Facebook link.
I'd like to see other artist's studios and share ideas.
If you like this idea, think about participating.

Mrs. London's Bakery in Progress

My approach is to paint one section at a time and do only that which interests me. This is my third day and I discovered this technique works. I'm not the kind of painter who can work on the whole canvas at once. I get disorganized and then I tend to overwork it.

Mandarin Orange Box

I've always had a love of small antique painted boxes. They can be pricey, so over the years I've painted many decorative boxes just for the fun of it.

Mrs. London's Bakery

I met a friend for lunch at the lovely Mrs. London's Bakery. This first image is of our table from above.

I thought I might be biting off more than I can chew and so in this second image I primed the unstretched canvas on the wall and thought, if need be, I could use those parts of the painting that worked and cut out the rest.

Reconsidering, in this third image I put the primed canvas on stretcher bars and drew in my picture. Painting can be hard and it's important that I approach it with confidence regardless of the outcome.

The Lucy Challenge Revisited

I'm lucky to have a friend like Trudi Smith. This is another of her paintings I can call my own. Back in August 2015 my friend Trudi put out the challenge that we'd both paint her dog Lucy. Her first version went to her husband, of course, and so she painted another one for me. I consider myself fortunate.

Mandarin Orange on Green Glass Plate (Double-duty Orange)

I often think I should paint the fruit that goes into my morning smoothie. Today I have the peel of a Mandarin orange already eaten and a whole one destined for my smoothie tomorrow.  They are especially delicious and have great orange color.

Buddy

I have a friend who went to school with me and we became Occupational Therapists. While she kept at it, I retired to paint. She sent several images of her dog Buddy to me. I picked this one because of the sweet expression in his eyes.
