I started with his face. That's what made sense and it felt like I was starting my meal with dessert first. This large poodle was a delight to paint and my goal was to capture that quality about him. Can you tell I have a soft spot for poodles?

The Path Challenge
I painted this for DPW's The Path Challenge. I like to paint paths that disappear over the hill. It tells a story. I'm hoping this challenge will inspire me to start painting outdoors. I paint plein air as often as I can during the summer and my goal is to simplify what I see.

Happy Poodle
I couldn't resist. I met this young standard poodle on the bike path yesterday as my husband and I enjoyed an evening walk. I took a couple of images of him bounding around and then his puppy training kicked in. This painting is going to make me smile the whole time I'm painting him; I just know it.

Blue Pitcher and Plums Completed
It's been almost two weeks since I last posted and I have to apologize for that. I have been working on this painting but that's between spending great time with my family, doing or hanging my art for shows and enjoying the outdoors. And that's okay, because it took me time to make painting decisions. You know what I mean?
