I drew the shape of a color wheel and instead of placing colors in the segments I wrote down the names of items I had around the house - kitchenwares and foods. I started with secondary colors of green, violet and orange. I had a head of lettuce and it looked like it could stand up to being painted for a couple of days, the other items followed. Now when I say "What should I paint?", I can look at my chart and think about color combinations with actual objects in mind.
